Travis Kelce's NFL Rival Saquon Barkley Went Out Of His Way To Defend Taylor Swift After She Got Booed At The Super Bowl, And Everyone's Saying The Same Thing

In case you missed it, Taylor Swift was unfairly booed by the crowd at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans while watching her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, compete in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

If you’ve not seen the video, Taylor is just sitting and minding her business when the cameras show her on the jumbotron. As the stadium bursts into loud boos and jeers, you can literally see the confusion on her face before she laughs it off with Ice Spice, who’s seated next to her.

To make matters worse, Donald Trump, who was in attendance at the game, also mocked Taylor getting booed, writing on Truth Social: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” ...Yawn.

It didn’t take long for the clip to go super viral, and because Taylor was there rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, the narrative online was that the boos were coming from the fans of the opposing team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Or just bitter haters in general, you decide.

And though we obviously don’t have any solid answers, one of the Eagles’ star players, Saquon Barkley, just went out of his way to defend Taylor, calling for some NFL fans to show a little more respect. Speaking on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, Saquon was asked whether he thought Taylor and Travis might get married. Seeing his opportunity, the running back changed the subject and took a moment to express his disgust at how Taylor was treated on Sunday.

“You know, I remember that they showed her on the jumbotron and she got booed. I don't get it. I don't get why she was getting hate there… She's there supporting her significant other, and she's made the game bigger,” he said, making a point about how much visibility Taylor has brought to the league since she started attending Travis’s games in September 2023.

“In football, we're all about how can we expand the game and make it more, you know, internationally, and we're traveling to Brazil, and we're traveling to Mexico, and apparently we're traveling to Australia soon, so we're trying to expand the game,” he went on. “Her being a part of it's only helping that, so I don't get the slack that she's getting.”

Of course, it didn’t take long for Saquon’s comments to gain a lot of attention on X, with many fans praising the Super Bowl champion for his respectful take.

Inevitably, there’s also been a lot of conversation about how the rival team came to Taylor’s defense before the Chiefs and her very own boyfriend did.

Tweet suggests the Chiefs haven't addressed an issue involving Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Tweet by user @winflei: "I feel a little uncomfortable knowing that a guy who doesn't know her defended her more than her own boyfriend."

However, despite Travis’s silence being a huge talking point among fans, it’s worth considering two things. Firstly, if he’s not speaking out, that’s most likely because Taylor has asked him not to to avoid drawing attention to the situation. (Because, let’s be honest, that man will talk about anything on his podcast.) And secondly, he just faced a brutal defeat in what may be his last Super Bowl ever, so let’s cut him some slack.

Either way, I’d be surprised if either Taylor or Travis addressed this anytime soon. But I’m definitely impressed with Saquon’s dedication to doing the right thing — he’s a winner in every sense of the word.
