Travis Kelce fans are praising the football star after he earned an exciting new nomination for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

The award honors a football player who has "had a significant positive impact on his community," with one person nominated from each team.

Kelce's football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, shared the exciting news with fans on social media, writing, "We are honored to announce our Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee, @killatrav 👏 Vote for Travis in the Charity Challenge at the link in our bio!"

Kelce founded the nonprofit organization Eighty-Seven & Running, which provides resources, mentoring and support to disadvantaged youth in Ohio. One of the organization's projects is the STEM-focused Ignition Lab at Operation Breakthrough.

For the official Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, a panel of judges made up of former NFL players, last year's winner and the current commissioner of the NFL decides the winner. The prize is a $250,000 donation to a charity of the player's choice.

The NFL official page states that all the nominees for the award also receive "up to a $55,000 donation" for whatever charity they choose.

While fans can't affect the outcome of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, they can play a direct role in the 2024 Nationwide Charity Challenge, in which you vote for your choice of nominee for the prestigious award.

Whoever wins with the most fan votes will get $35,000 for their choice of charity, while second place receives $10,000 and third receives $5,000.
