Transexual beauty queen booted out of pageant

Miss Universe Canada-hopeful Jenna Talackova appears much like you’d expect a beauty pageant entrant to look: tall, blonde, buxom, and blessed with a knockout smile.

Yet Talackova, 23, has been disqualified from the competition despite being chosen as one of 65 finalists.
Talackova believes it is the fact she was born male that led to her dismissal from the competition. The former Miss International Queen contestant underwent gender reassignment surgery when she was 19.

Talackova has said she first identified as a girl when she was 4, and at age 14 started hormone therapy.

A press release issued by Miss Universe Canada organizers states “she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form”.

The Canadian beauty queen is waiting to speak with her lawyer before giving interviews however she tweeted on March 18 that her place in the competition was in doubt. Talackova was officially disqualified two days later.

The rules of Miss Universe Canada, a competition owned by Donald Trump, state that entrants must be Canadian citizens within the ages of 18 to 27, unmarried and not pregnant.

Denis Davila, the competition’s director, claims entry into Miss Universe Canada requires contestants to be a “naturally born female”.

People critical of Talackova’s removal from the competition turned to social media to express their outrage.

Tweeter @kumar303 queried the logic of the disqualification, writing that it “doesn't make sense that a pageant allowing natural born women with *fake* breasts would disqualify a transgender woman”, while other twits are retweeting a petition to reinstate Talackova to the competition.
