Tony and Ziva's 'NCIS' Spinoff Title Breaks a Major Rule

Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo

NCIS alums Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo unveiled the title of their spinoff series this morning in an X (formerly Twitter) video below. And the series is breaking the pattern set by NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Hawaii, NCIS: New: Orleans, and NCIS: Sydney by not being named after the location where the action takes place.

So, the spinoff is not NCIS: Europe, but rather NCIS: Tony & Ziva.

“It makes it really easy, because the fans will know exactly what the show is,” de Pablo says. “It’s about Tony and Ziva in Europe.”

She goes on to say, “I expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe, impossible situations that will make our lives very complicated, but somehow a little something about love!”

In the all-new 10-episode spinoff for Paramount+, the duo will reunite onscreen for the first time in 10 years. De Pablo had returned to NCIS for a guest-starring arc after her character's alleged death, but Weatherly was filming Bull at that time, so the two did not appear together. At the end of that NCIS arc, Ziva was leaving for Paris to be reunited with Tony, who was raising their daughter Tali as a single parent.

And that’s where the new series picks up. Tony and Ziva have been living in Europe, raising Tali together, but when Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.

NCIS: Tony & Ziva will be filming in Budapest this summer.
