Tom Selleck Celebrates 80th Birthday With Rare Family Outing
Tom Selleck celebrated a major life milestone while surrounded by family members and friends earlier this week.
The Blue Bloods star rang in his 80th birthday while out to dinner in Southern California on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Photos obtained by The Daily Mail showed the actor leaving Tuscany il Ristorante after the Italian eatery located near Thousand Oaks officially closed its doors for the evening. The British tabloid published the snapshots one day after they were taken.
In the pictures, the Magnum, P.I. alum was seen wearing a red button-up shirt beneath a tan jacket. A pair of brown shoes and dark blue jeans completed his birthday ensemble.
Selleck’s wife, Jillie Mack, was photographed walking beside her husband as the couple left the restaurant. She wore a striped dress with black boots and a lightweight tan jacket, and was seen holding what looked like a gift bag in the hand that wasn’t clasping her husband’s. Selleck also held a small package in his free hand.
Additional photos shared online showed that their daughter, Hannah, was among the group that gathered at the restaurant on Wednesday evening to celebrate Selleck’s birthday.
The special outing occurred just weeks after the Blue Bloods series finale aired in mid-December. Selleck, who played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan for all of the CBS police procedural’s 14 seasons, said in an interview last fall that he was “kind of frustrated” that the show, which he described as “still being wildly successful,” was ending.
“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go,” Selleck told TV Insider. “It’s going to take a long time to sort all of this out,” he added when asked how he felt about the show’s cancellation.
