Tom Hanks Spotted on Rare Public Outing With 8-Year-Old Granddaughter
While Tom Hanks often attends red carpet events and sits for interviews on late night talk shows, it is rare to see the Hollywood icon out in public with the youngest members of his family.
In addition to his four children, Hanks, 68, is also the proud grandfather to three grandkids. On Sunday, Nov. 24, the Cast Away star was spotted walking with his 8-year-old granddaughter Michaiah around Brentwood, a suburban neighborhood located in Los Angeles, Calif.

Photos published by The Daily Mail on Tuesday, Nov. 26, showed the two-time Academy Award-winning actor wearing a navy blue zip-up jacket, black shirt and black pants as he walked in a crosswalk beside his granddaughter. Hanks completed his look with a gray and white Los Angeles Dodgers baseball hat, a pair of sunglasses and black shoes. Michaiah wore light-wash denim jeans, pink and white sneakers, and a light pink top worn beneath a black jacket for the outing.
In addition to the snapshots taken on Sunday of Hanks and his granddaughter, photographers also captured an image showing the Forrest Gump star posing for a photo with a person that the British tabloid identified as a parking attendant. The photo showed Michaiah standing off to the side as she waited for the fan interaction with her grandfather to conclude.
At 8, Michaiah is the youngest of Hanks’ three granddaughters and the only child of his son Chet, 34, whom Hanks shares with his wife, fellow actress Rita Wilson. The You’ve Got Mail actor is also the proud grandfather to his lookalike son Colin’s two daughters, Olivia and Charlotte.
In addition Chet, Hanks and Wilson are the parents of another son, 28-year-old Truman. Hanks shares Colin, 47, and his only daughter, Elizabeth, 42, with his ex-wife, Samantha Lewes.
