Today host Ally Langdon hits back at Karl's tax joke: 'Not true'

The Today show's Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon had a bit of a tit for tat at the desk on Wednesday morning's program, after Karl made a joke about Ally's taxes.

The hosts were introducing a segement about tax time and the new financial year, when Ally was forced to clap back at Karl.

"Tomorrow is the start of the new financial year. We all know what that means: it's tax time," Allison said.

But Karl interjected with: "Well, Ally hasn't done her taxes for the last 10 years. Just alerting the ATO..."

Ally Langdon takes swipe at Daniel Andrews

The exchange comes just days after Allison Langdon also took a subtle swipe at Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, after he shared a video about his back injury and returned to work after months of recovery.

The video, in which Mr Andrews explains how he fell over while getting ready for work at a rented holiday home on March 9.

Ally described the video as an election pitch, "We wish him all the very best. I thought the video was a bit of an election pitch to that?"

Nine presenter Alicia Loxley and Shadow Minister for Education and Shadow Minister for Women Tanya Plibersek were also on hand to share their comments on the matter.

Alicia called the video "cringeworthy" and "stage-managed", but thought the video would get the Premier back on side with Victorians.
