TikToker Says She Has to Wear a Blue Wig Because the Internet ‘Bullied’ Her When She Stopped Dying Her Actual Hair Blue
Australian DJ Tigerlily (real named Dara Kristen Hayes) revealed why she decided to wear a blue wig for the past six years
One woman started using a new hair accessory to keep negative TikTok comments at bay.
A TikTok user by the username djtigerlily (real named Dara Kristen Hayes) shared a video on the social media platform on Friday, Jan. 31, joining in the “You’re So Funny” trend — which is when users reply “thanks” to “you’re so funny” and reveal a traumatic event that caused their sense of humor.
In Hayes’ post, she wrote: “‘You're so funny’ thanks, I had to start wearing blue wigs because the internet bullied me when I stopped dying my real hair blue.”
Her text was placed on a video of her showing off her blonde hair before she placed her teal blue wig on her head.
“Unleashing my inner Hannah Montana #newhair #bluehair,” she captioned the post.
Several TikTok users shared their similar experiences in the comment section.
“My family bullied me when I stopped dyeing mine blue and now I'm back! funny at first they didn't like it but now they can't imagine me any other way,” wrote one user. Hayes replied in solidarity, “Blue hair remains superior.”
Another added, “I dyed my hair blue in high school and got fired from my job bc of you 😩💙.”
Hayes replied, “So sorry for that.”

One user told her that “the blue does suit” her, but she noted, “Not going to lie I do love it but my hair does not.”
“The internet doesn't realise how damn hard it is to maintain pastel blue hair. 😭 I miss my old hair, but I don't miss the upkeep,” added another TikTok user. “Thank you!!! It’s sooo hard. At the time it was worth it but not sustainable for the long run,” Hayes commented back.

In July 2022, the Australian DJ posted to Instagram saying that transitioning from the blue hairdo to blonde took a long time: “Going from bright blue to icy, white, blonde hair takes YEARS of work ❄️💙.”
The DJ documented her hair transformation beginning in 2019 when she started dying pastel pink. For years, she was known for her electric blue hair, until she opted for the pink look and slowly eased into her now-blonde look.
