Thomas Markle has used Father’s Day to hit out once again, claiming he is fed up being ‘abused’ and ‘vilified’ by ‘people who don’t know him’ and has begged daughter Meghan to let him meet his grandson Archie.

In an exclusive interview published by the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex’ father Thomas has spoken out for the first time since Archie’s birth in May.

Opening up from his home in Mexico, Thomas said he believed he had been unfairly cut out of his grandson’s life.

“I would like them to send me a picture of Archie so I can frame it and put it on my wall beside the one of Meghan,” he told the publication. “Isn't that what any grandfather would want? I'd love to know if he's got the famous Markle nose.”

He added he was ‘disappointed’ he hadn’t been able to see Archie yet, explaining he had hoped becoming a mother would ‘mellow’ Meghan.

“Sometimes I get the feeling people think I don't love my daughter. I do love her very much,” he added.

But in the same breath, the father also used the opportunity to hit out at his famous daughter over a speech she gave during the royal couple’s tour of the South Pacific.

In her first major speech in Fiji, Meghan spoke about how she paid her own way through university and would not have been able to afford the reported $200,000 tuition fees at Northwestern University without financial aid.

A statement which her father claims is completely untrue, but he is only now speaking out about it because his daughter was pregnant at the time.

“I paid every penny of her tuition and I have the bank statements to prove it. I'm sick of the lies. I'm sick of being vilified and shut out of their lives,” he said.

He added he would continue to stand up for himself and carry on speaking out.

“I don't want anything from Meghan or Harry but I'm not going to shut up until the whole truth is out there. I will continue to contradict anything said about me that isn't true.”

Thomas said he would not let the royal couple and ‘their PR people’ continue to ghost him out of her life.

Thomas, who reportedly wasn’t paid for this latest interview, added there was never any problem between Meghan and him until recently, evident in some of the gushing posts the former Suits actress wrote online before joining the royal family.

Expert claims Meghan needs to heal rift with her father

Royal commentator Omid Scobie said ‘healing has to happen’ between the Duchess of Sussex and father Thomas Markle.

“I think that healing has to happen between Thomas and Meghan first before Archie even becomes part of this, because at the moment I can imagine that Harry and Meghan’s top priority is protecting him and keeping him around people that they can trust,” he told Yahoo UK’s The Royal Box after Archie’s private christening in Windsor on Saturday 6 July.

Thomas Markle spoke to the Mail on Sunday following Archie’s christening, which was attended by Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, saying he would have liked to have been there but wishes his daughter, son-in-law and baby grandson 'health and happiness'.

“Archie is my new grandson, so of course I would have enjoyed being there for the blessing,” he told the Mail on Sunday following Archie’s christening.
