Blind singer's incredible AGT performance is making people cry
A very special America’s Got Talent contestant has blown judges away and set audiences alight with his tear-jerking viral audition.
Kodi Lee, 22, who is blind and has autism, took to the show’s famed stage alongside his mum Tina before belting out a piano-led rendition of Donny Hathaway’s A Song For You.
“We found out that he loved music really early on,” Tina explained to Talent’s judges of her son’s initial show of talent.
“He listened and his eyes just went huge, and he started singing, and that’s when I was in tears … I just realised, oh my god, he’s an entertainer.
“Through music and performing he was able to withstand living in this world because when you’re autistic, it’s really hard to do what everyone else does.
“It’s saved his life, playing music,” Tina concluded.
Kodi went on to perform a flawless rendition of the Grammy-winning ballad which brought the entire audience to their feet in applause.
"That's all for you, baby, that's all for you," Tina was heard whispering into her son's ear as the crowd roared in applause.
Judge Gabrielle Union opted to use her coveted once-a-season Golden Buzzer which allows a contestant to automatically advance to the show’ live semi-finals.
Kodi’s show-stopping performance has already set the internet alight since being uploaded this week – gaining 87 million views on Facebook alone.
The same post garnered more than one million likes and almost two million shares along with 170,000 comments.
Kodi will now advance to Talent’s live shows in the hopes of taking home its $1 million prize money with the opportunity to headline a Las Vegas residency.
