'Strange': Eagle-eyed fans spot shocking detail in The Wiggles star's proposal

Wedding bells are in the air for Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie, after his girlfriend, Dana Stephensen popped the question.

“On Thursday night, Dana asked me to marry her at home under a fairy light sky and a very excited little boy in a beautiful bow tie,” Lachy wrote on Instagram.

Dana also took to her Instagram account to gush over Lachy, saying he had actually proposed first but she wanted to ask him the ‘special question’ with her son by her side.

”At the end of our summer holidays, I walked into the most beautiful surprise - a room filled with the most incredible flowers and Lachy singing at his piano and then asking me to marry him. It was such a surprise and so special. Our faces say it all,” she wrote.

“It was something very meaningful for us to both have the opportunity to propose to one another, each in our own way. Last week, with the most beautiful (and excited!) little boy by my side in a special bow tie, it was our time to ask Lachy our special question - and it was so, so wonderful.”

Lachlan was previously married to Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins but the pair parted ways in August 2018 before he went public with Dana in October 2019.

Now, fans have noticed that Dana actually got down on one knee on what would have been Lachlan and Emma’s fourth wedding anniversary.

“I find it a bit strange she asked him on the date that was his wedding anniversary,” one person wrote online.

Lachlan and Emma tied the knot on the 9th of April 2016 after meeting in 2013 while she was auditioning for children’s show Dorothy the Dinosaur, with her to-be husband playing the role of Captain Feathersword.

They married in 2016 in a lavish wedding at Hopewood House in Bowral, with Emma looking stunning in a long-sleeved gown by Suzanne Harward.

However, just two years later they announced they were parting ways, with fans left in shock over the news.

The pair have remained amicable, with Emma telling Stellar magazine in December last year that she predicted her ex-husband and Dana would be the perfect match.

"Dana and Lachy have a similar energy, and I said to a friend that they would be perfect together," she said.

"But she was in a relationship, so I didn't say anything to him."

Emma also commented on Lachy’s Instagram announcement of his engagement to Dana with three purple love heart emojis.

Who is Dana Stephensen?

Dana Stephensen, 34, is a senior artist with the Australian Ballet.

A dancer since she was just three-years-old, the other major love of Dana’s life is her young son Jasper, who was born in 2015, and she was quoted in an interview the following year saying that becoming a mother truly changed her life.

“Motherhood teaches you so much and it opens up this treasure box of new things that you explore and performing is so much about life experiences,” she told the Daily Mail.

“Pregnancy is one of the most formative life experiences I've had and it informs so much of my work now.”

Like Lachy, she has been married before, to photographer Michael Kai.

Rumours began circulating in August 2019 that Dana and Lachy were dating, with a source telling the Sunday Telegraph, “All The Wiggles members, including Emma, are really happy for Lachy.”

“He and Emma remain good friends and both wish the best for one another.”

Lachy and Emma part ways

Everyone’s favourite Wiggles couple Emma and Lachy called time on their marriage in 2018, two years after they wed.

When they went public with the news, Emma, who is also a ballerina, revealed she “fell out of love a little bit” before she and her co-star decided to part ways.

At the time, Yellow Wiggle Emma had been dealing with a number of health concerns which culminated in her needing to undergo surgery for endometriosis.

She told the Gold Coast Bulletin it was a “weird time” for the couple, and they ultimately decided they were better off as friends.

In a joint statement at the time, the pair said they were embracing the “very positive change in [their] relationship”.

“We have chosen a different path to travel in our personal lives,” they said, “but please know that we are stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see you at a show soon.”

Emma is now dating musician Oliver Brian, who tours with The Wiggles and also played guitar during her wedding reception when she married Lachy.

"Yes, I'm in love and I feel very excited to tell you... He's very opposite to me,” Emma told Stellar magazine.

“He's a very calm and thoughtful person and I've always been interested in his mind and his take on life, and his morals. He loves talking about the environment and food production. It's not very 'Wiggly', but it's been nice for me to talk about things not just concerning ourselves, but people everywhere around the world."
