The Project host loses it over Friends rumour: ‘This brings me joy!’
The Project host Rachel Corbett couldn’t contain her excitement on Wednesday night when discussing the rumoured romance between Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer.
The news has been praised by fans worldwide after the actors confessed during Friends: The Reunion earlier this year that they had feelings for each other while filming the original sitcom.
“This brings me joy! This is so exciting,” Rachel exclaimed on the program.
“I was actually really surprised in the reunion when they admitted that they genuinely had an honest crush on each other during filming because celebrities never do that.
“And the idea that they never got to do anything about it, and now they've come back together, it’s just such a good love story!”

Fellow panellist Steve Price was quick to shut down her elation, saying: “I reckon you’ve been in lockdown for too long, that’s your problem.”
“Pricey, oh what a surprise that you don’t like that. What a shock,” Rachel quipped.
Peter Helliar also shared his opinion on the relationship gossip, adding: “The show should be rebranded ‘More Than Friends’ now.”
Romance rumours between Jennifer and David began earlier this week when Closer claimed the pair have been “getting close” since filming the show’s 25th-anniversary special.
“They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA,” a source told the publication.
“They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing.”
However, representatives for both Hollywood stars have since said reports of an off-screen romance are false.
The duo made news headlines back in May when they admitted during the Friends reunion that they had a mutual attraction for one another but never acted on it.
“The first season I had a major crush on Jen,” David revealed.
“And I think we both, at some point, were crushing hard on each other but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”
In a subsequent interview with Howard Stern, Jennifer said the relationship wouldn’t have worked because “it was always never the right time”.
“The beauty of that was that whatever feelings we had we just literally channelled everything into Ross and Rachel and I think that’s maybe why it resonated the way it did. But no, we never – on my life, and Courteney and Lisa would know and can vouch for me.”
