I’m of the belief that staycations are criminally underrated. Sure, using your time off to explore and immerse yourself in new cultures overseas is fun, but so is booking yourself a luxurious room in one of Australia’s best cities to simply unwind and relax.
Melbourne is perfect this time of year. The bitter chill of winter is behind us, but the heat of summer hasn’t quite hit, making it the best time to travel. I was in serious need of a little TLC after a busy few months, so indulging in a minibreak was what the doctor ordered.

Admittedly, Melbourne has a plethora of choices when it comes to hotels, but as someone who has visited four times this year (I’m officially obsessed), I know not all are created equal.
Tucked away in the CBD’s East End district on Little Collins St, Next Hotel Melbourne immediately ticked all the boxes for my little weekend away.
Recently announced as a new addition to the converted portfolio of Curio Collection by Hilton, the stylish rooms, considered design details and thoughtful amenities immediately drew me in.
It’s not all about looks though, with Next delivering big on comfort. Their fabulous king-sized bed genuinely gave me one of the best sleeps I had in months.

As I mentioned above, you are smack-bang in the middle of the CBD, but don’t let that stop you from soaking in everything at your fingertips! Eventually rising from my relaxed state, I made my way downstairs to level three to experience everything their in-house restaurant, La Madonna, had to offer.
While my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, I can’t go past a curated Chef’s menu and La Madonna is quite literally known for theirs. This included 5 (very generous) dishes that truly put me into a food coma.
Their bar staff also know how to make a killer cocktail, so make sure you take full advantage of that too!

Nothing.
Just kidding! But as it should be clear to you by now, I planned to simply relax and live without a schedule for a few days. Having said that, I simply can’t resist aimlessly walking around a city with a buzz quite like Melbourne.
The hotel’s central location means you’re within a 10-minute stroll from Melbourne's famous shopping district, theatres and top-class culinary scene — all of which I took full advantage of.
While the idea of a staycation isn’t anything new, it could be the reset you’re craving.
