The Crown's Emma Corrin calls herself a 'queer bride'

She captivated the world with her portrayal of the late Princess Diana on The Crown and now Emma Corrin has sent her masses of fans into a tizzy over her personal life.

The 25-year-old British star called herself a "queer bride" in a recent Instagram post that showed her wearing a wedding gown for a magazine feature story.

Posing in the white frock and veil by Italian designer Miu Miu, a fresh-faced Emma crossed her arms and pulled a somewhat glum face for the camera.

In a second close-up snap, she glances wistfully to the side in a manner reminiscent of her Golden Globe-winning turn as the young Diana Spencer.

Emma captioned the pics, "ur fave queer bride" and also included a plug for POP magazine's latest issue which features her on its cover.

The typically private actor's comment sparked a flurry of questions and speculation about her sexuality from followers.

"Caption speaks facts," wrote one in the comments section.

"Wait is she playing a queer bride in a queer movie? (That I must immediately see) or is she 'coming out'?" asked another.

"QUEER?! what a day to be alive," declared a third.

At the time of publishing, Emma has made no further remarks on the matter.

Ahead of her debut as the 'People's Princess' on season four of The Crown, Emma hinted that she was single when asked if there was a 'boyfriend on the scene'.

"I’d rather navigate this on my own," she told Stella magazine in October 2020. "It’s nicer to feel like I’m taking care of me."

Emma is gearing up to star in the period drama, My Policeman alongside Harry Styles who plays her husband who has a clandestine affair with a man.

Aussie actor Elizabeth Debecki will take over from Emma as Diana in the upcoming two seasons of the Netflix royal drama, with Dominic West rumoured to play Prince Charles.
