The Crown Season 3 has finished shooting
Anticipation is growing for the newest season of Netflix’ blockbuster series The Crown, with season three of the epic royal biopic on the horizon.
It will be the first time we get a glimpse of the all new cast in many of the lead roles, as Olivia Colman takes over the role of Queen Elizabeth and Tobias Menzies playing the new Prince Philip.
Filming officially finished in February 2019 – although Coleman revealed at the time she was still working on reshoots.
“We’ve just finished season three a week ago, and when I go back I’ve got to do some reshoots” she said in a interview following her Oscar win.
She confirmed filming for season four would pick up again in August.
When will The Crown season three be aired?
While no date has been announced for the release of season three of The Crown, it’s thought it will be later in 2019.
Series one was released in November 2016 and series two in December 2017, so we’re expecting Season three to also be released before Christmas.
This season of The Crown will be set between 1964 through to the early 1970s. The Queen gave birth to her last child, Prince Edward, in 1964, so it’s thought the series will begin with that.
A new line up for season three
Olivia Colman takes the reigns from Claire Foy, whose best actress win for her role in the Netflix drama sets the bar high for Oscar winner Colman.
We did get a sneak peek when the cast of The Crown season 3 were spotted in costume in March.
Marion Bailey will plays the Queen Mother in the show, while Erin Doherty will star as Princess Anne.
The Crown unveils Princess Diana
Following a widespread casting search to determine who would nab the role of a lifetime, TV newcomer Emma Corrin, has been cast to play the Princess Diana in the blockbuster Netflix series The Crown.
The 23-year-old is set to join the show in season four, which is expected to debut next year and chronicle the Prince and Princess of Wales’ courtship.
she’s already a fan of the show, revealing the casting’s made her ‘beyond excited’.
“I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal,” she said in a statement back in April.
After they shoot Season 4, the cast will be changing once again.
