Eighteen months ago, face masks were reserved for hospital staff; today they're a staple part of an outfit - and it doesn't look likely that will end any time soon for most Australians.

But not all reusable face masks are made equal. Some are softer and comfier than others.

We've rounded up the best breathable, reliable, and affordable masks - and of course made sure they look good as well.

With adjustable straps and an outer layer of breathable viscose, it's currently reduced from $20 to just $5.

If you want to look smart in your mask, then the Clear Collective Reusable Cotton Face Mask from The Iconic is the way to go.

Made from 100% soft cotton, it feels soft to wear, has soft stretchy straps, and has a pinchable nose seal for a customisable fit.

It comes with filters that should be replaced after 50 hours of use. It's a bit pricier than some, at $49.95, but is designed to last well.

It can be easily converted to a face cover, neck gaiter or bandana. Wearing it as a mask means it is extra stretchy and comfortable.

It's best used only when you don't have a mask to hand, as it is't as effective as a proper mask. You can find them in a range of colours at Catch.com.au, for $8.99.
