Hollywood studios have released some of their most highly-anticipated trailers during the 2024 Super Bowl.
The 2024 Super Bowl brought not only football fans to the edge of their seats but also movie buffs, with Hollywood dropping some high-octane, tantalising trailers during the commercial breaks.
From action-packed blockbusters to Broadway musical adaptations, Hollywood studios pulled out all the stops. Here's a closer look at the trailers that had everyone talking.
Deadpool & Wolverine
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reunite in the long-awaited third instalment of the Deadpool franchise, and fans were treated to a glimpse of what’s to come in a trailer during the Super Bowl.
While details about the film remain scarce, the trailer promises another X-rated adventure packed with Deadpool's signature humour. Ryan Reynolds steals the spotlight with his fourth-wall-breaking quip, teasing fans with the line: "Pegging isn't new for me, friendo. But it is for Disney."
Although Wolverine's presence is minimal in the trailer, audiences are teased with a glimpse of Jackman's return through a shadow outline of his iconic outfit and blades.
Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released in Australia on July 25, 2024.
Wicked
In the highly-anticipated big-screen adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked, fans are treated to their first glimpse of Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Good Witch, and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

The two-part Wicked movie is a cinematic adaptation of the famed Broadway musical, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. It tells an alternate version of events in Oz before Dorothy's arrival and explores the story of how Elphaba becomes the Wicked Witch of the West as she navigates being framed by the Wizard.
Part One is scheduled for release in Australia on November 28, followed by Part Two a year later.
Kung Fu Panda 4
Featuring an all-star cast including Jack Black, Viola Davis, Awkwafina, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane, and Ke Huy Quan, the latest instalment of the beloved Kung Fu Panda franchise begins with Po, the Dragon Warrior (Black), receiving a daunting new mission.
Po is tasked with finding and training a new Dragon Warrior to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. However, his mission becomes even more perilous when a powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Davis), emerges—a cunning lizard capable of shapeshifting into any form, posing a threat unlike any other.
Kung Fu Panda 4 will be released in Australian cinemas March 28.
The Fall Guy
The film adaptation of an '80s TV series of the same name follows the story of retired stuntman Colt Seavers, played by Ryan Gosling, who finds himself back in the game for a high-budget studio movie directed by his ex-girlfriend, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt).
Filmed in Australia, Hollywood heartthrob Gosling was spotted Down Under in late 2022 and early 2023, shooting adrenaline-pumping stunts for the project. The production was so intense that even the iconic Harbour Bridge had to be shut down for several days!
The Fall Guy is set to hit screens on April 24.
A Quiet Place: Day One
The spine-chilling prequel to the 2018 hit A Quiet Place is taking us back to the very beginning, when sound-triggered aliens first descended upon Earth, setting the stage for the events of the original film.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, the nail-biting narrative features a star-studded cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Djimon Hounsou, and "Stranger Things" heartthrob Joseph Quinn.
A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled for release in Australia on June 27.
Despicable Me 4
Prepare for another round of mischief and mayhem!
The highly anticipated fourth instalment of the beloved Despicable Me franchise follows the adventures of Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) and his wife Lucy (voiced by Kristen Wiig) as they embark on a new chapter of parenthood. With their own kiddo joining their eclectic family, which already includes plenty of minions, the couple must navigate the challenges of raising a family while facing off against a formidable new foe.
Despicable Me 4 will hit cinemas on June 20.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
The official trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes made its debut during the Super Bowl, marking over six years since the release of its predecessor, War for the Planet of the Apes.
In this thrilling continuation of the saga, set "several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign," apes reign supreme while humans struggle to survive in the shadows. The movie promises an epic tale of survival and dominance, captivating audiences with its gripping storyline and stunning visuals.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will premiere on May 9.
