Amid Ongoing Backlash For His Netflix Special, Matt Rife Is Now Catching Heat For His Appalling Alleged Comment To A 6-Year-Old
Matt Rife has embroiled himself in more controversy, this time for an alleged comment to a 6-year-old.
As you've probably seen, Matt's been under fire since the release of his Netflix special, Natural Selection, in November.
The comedian — whose fanbase had largely been comprised of women — infamously opened the show with domestic violence jokes. He also mocked women with certain interests, such as astrology and crystals.
Regarding astrology, Matt said: "I am so tired of you ladies blaming your poor decision-making skills on planets that don't even know you. Get this through your head: Astrology is not this magical life guideline that predetermines your future in the stars. Your future is determined by your own thoughts, opinions, and actions. You are in complete control of how your future turns out."
"It has nothing to do with the stars, man. Just because Jupiter has a ring and you don't doesn't mean that's what you're supposed to look up to for this magical advice," he continued, as the crowd laughed.
As the clip of the astrology bit started going viral, people apparently started tagging a popular TikToker named Bunny Hedaya, knowing she has a 6-year-old son who, in her own words, is "really into space."
Bunny explained on TikTok that after receiving so many tags, she decided to respond by stitching the clip with her son's reaction.
In the video, which was shared on her Instagram and TikTok, her son corrects Matt and says, "Actually, it's Saturn that has the rings. It has more [visible ones] also."
He then adds, "And, you're mean to girls," seemingly in response to Matt's domestic violence jokes.
Bunny said the video was meant to be "lighthearted," but Matt didn't seem to take it that way.
According to her, he left a comment to her son on Instagram, saying, "Jupiter also has [a] ring. OH!... and Santa [Claus] isn't real. Your mom buys you presents with the money she makes on OnlyFans. Good luck."
Bunny noted that she doesn't even post her body online. She said Matt just "can't accept the fact that people may like women for their personalities" and was being misogynistic.
The comment seems to be gone now, but fans still came for Matt under Bunny's video:
BuzzFeed contacted Matt's reps for comment and did not immediately hear back, but we'll update this post if we do. In the meantime, watch Bunny's video below:
