“Tell Me Lies” star Jackson White announces death of dad Jack White, ex-husband of Katey Sagal

"I love you dad forever."

Tell Me Lies star Jackson White is paying tribute to his father Jack White, who was married to his mother Katey Sagal from 1993 to 2000.

"This guy taught me everything," White wrote on Intstagram. "We had ups and downs, as a man has with their father. But in the end it was just love."

The elder White was a drummer as well as an actor and a hockey/skating technical advisor on films like the Mighty Ducks trilogy and Jack Frost.

"He was an open book, a fighter, genuinely the funniest person my sister and I knew," White continued, "and single handedly invented the loudest most powerful back beat of any drummer I’ve ever seen. He’s not in pain anymore. And we get to remember him, 6 foot 4 with a denim shirt and a Starbucks muffin, driving us around, teaching us every important song ever written."

Sagal also memorialized her ex-husband, writing in the comments, "Beautiful Jackson and Beautiful Sarah I will always be grateful to your dad for you! Thank you Jack❤️🙏. Finally free."

Sagal played her son's onscreen mother in the first season of the Hulu series Tell Me Lies, based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Carola Lovering. The show chronicled the turbulent love affair between college freshmen Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and college junior Stephen DeMarco (White) over the course of eight years.

"I’m wearing his shoes every day," White concluded. "Not a metaphor he had really cool shoes. Big Jack White. 1954-2024. I love you dad forever."
