WATCH: Taylor Swift unrecognisable in teary post-surgery video

She’s spent the last few years attempting to shake off her squeaky clean image and now it appears that Taylor Swift, 29, has done just that.

Brand new footage was leaked on Thursday showing the barely recognisable “Lover” chart-topper having a teary tantrum while heavily affected by pain killers after having a secret surgery.

Not only that - it was the multi-Grammy award winner’s own mother who released the eyebrow-raising video and on national TV no less, causing Taylor to freak out live on-air.

Teary Taylor’s banana trauma

Of course, the situation isn’t as sinister as it first sounds. While Taylor was a guest on The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon began quizzing her about the LASIK eye surgery procedure she recently had in secret.

Taylor was left gobsmacked when the cheeky host revealed that he had acquired a never-before-seen video taken by her mum, Andrea, who accompanied her home after the procedure.

“What's happening right now?” a clearly shocked Taylor asks before Jimmy plays the footage.

In the video, the disorientated and medicated singer is a far cry from her polished red carpet self, sporting a cosy jumper, messy hair and a pair of plastic post-surgery LASIK goggles.

She attempts to rip a banana from its bunch but upon pulling the fruit from its stem, a clearly emotional Taylor declares, “That wasn't the one I wanted” and begins to sob.

Her patient mother attempts to soothe her daughter by saying she’ll take care of the rejected banana which causes Taylor to become even more upset.

“But it doesn't have a head!” she groans before eventually accepting that “sometimes it doesn't go your way”.

Later in the same clip, Andrea captures the “Ready For It” hitmaker nodding off in bed while eating her banana.

“Don't fall asleep eating a banana,” she can be heard instructing Taylor who responds, “I'm not asleep. My mind is alive”.

The truth behind #DrunkTaylor

After watching the hilarious clip back for the first time, Taylor was stunned, stating, “That's on television”.

She went on to attempt to piece together how Jimmy came to have the footage in the first place, calling her mum “cruel”.

“She was kind enough to drive me there but cruel enough to film it and give it to you?” Taylor asked.

It’s not the first time a questionable video of the best-selling artist has emerged. Back in August, a clip of a tipsy Taylor celebrating her MTV VMA nominations surfaced, which sparked fans to get the hashtag “#DrunkTaylor” trending on social media.

“So I was at a party, like a couple months ago, and I had like two and a half mojitos. And then, the next day, #DrunkTaylor was like No. 1 trending on Twitter,” she explained to Jimmy.

With the release of her banana meltdown, Taylor was understandably a little worried that the same might happen.

Luckily, in the end, there were no hard feelings toward her mum or Jimmy on Taylor’s part.

“I can't even be mad. I'm just impressed that you infiltrated my family. I don't even know how you did that. Nobody has my mom's number,” she admitted to the giggling host.
