Taylor Swift Issues Blunt Warning to Travis Kelce Ahead of Super Bowl 2025 With Mom Donna's Agreement
Taylor Swift was caught offering a lovingly harsh piece of advice to Travis Kelce following the Kansas City Chiefs' big win at the AFC West championships on Sunday, Jan. 26, and his mother Donna is in full agreement.
The "End Game" songstress wants to make sure her beau is putting his best foot forward when he arrives in New Orleans for Super Bowl 2025, and she was captured on video warning him not to let history repeat itself in the city that's gotten him into trouble in the past.
Hidden within a compilation of clips from the Chiefs' post-win time on the field, uploaded to TikTok by local publication The Kansas City Star, Swift told the star athlete to avoid Bourbon Street next month.
“Take me back," he said excitedly as the three gushed over his latest win, joking, "I owe New Orleans a little something…”
Swift then asked him something with her back turned to the camera, possibly referencing his time in the city in 2010 when the Cincinnati Bearcats played in the Sugar Bowl, to which Kelce affirmed, "Yeah."
“Yeah, no going to Bourbon Street,” Swift ordered with a smile on her face, while his mother agreed, "You know your history!"
The athlete, then a quarterback, was suspended from the team for a year after he tested positive for marijuana ahead of the Sugar Bowl. In an interview with Vanity Fair, he explained how swept up in the city he got, "listening to Lil Wayne, and [wanting] to smoke what he was smoking." The day before the big game, the team members were unexpectedly drug-tested by the NCAA.
“I just wanted to get out of there,” he recalled. “I was so embarrassed, I didn’t want to look at anybody.”
When his punishment was up, he rejoined the Bearcats as a tight end, and by his senior year was considered one of the best in the country. NFL coaches were hesitant to take a chance on him, though, because of his suspension scandal.
In the end, it was his brother, Jason Kelce, who helped convince the Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid to take him on.
With that in mind, Kelce acknowledged before the video cut off, "I won’t be having as much fun...”
