Travis Kelce And Jason Kelce’s Podcast Deleted Their Post Celebrating The Eagles’ Super Bowl Victory After It Was Targeted By Taylor Swift’s Fans, But Jason Has Said This Wasn't The Reason Why It Was Removed
As you are probably aware, the Super Bowl took place on Sunday, and the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22.
This was obviously a pretty big blow for Chiefs fans, with the team’s supporters increasing dramatically in recent years thanks to pop superstar Taylor Swift’s incredibly high-profile romance with the Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.
It’s no secret that ever since the couple went public with their romance in October 2023, Taylor’s fans have been tuning into Travis’s games in the hope of catching a glimpse of their idol on screen.
In fact, some even started wearing Chiefs merch to Taylor’s concerts before her record-breaking Eras Tour came to an end last year.
So, when the Chiefs failed to secure the trophy on Sunday, a huge chunk of Taylor’s fans were among those left disappointed by the loss — and this disappointment turned to anger when Travis’s New Heights podcast issued a congratulatory social media post to the Eagles.
For reference, Travis hosts the podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, who played for the Eagles for several years before he retired from the sport last year.
Posting on Sunday night, the official New Heights X account wrote: “Congrats to all our Birds fan 92%ers and Jason’s Eagles teammates on an incredible season.”
They also shared a graphic showing several photos of Jason from his time playing for the Eagles, alongside a quote of his that read: “There’s a lot of people in the Philadelphia organization that feel like family to me.”
But before long, the tweet was mysteriously deleted — and many began to theorize that this was due to the negative response it had received from Swifties.
After all, before the post was deleted, a whole swarm of Taylor’s fans quote-tweeted it to criticize the New Heights social media manager’s decision to celebrate the Eagles’ win in the face of Travis’s loss.
“Travis probably hasn’t even gotten off the field yet and you’re already celebrating the other team none of them plays for. Fuck you @newheightshow, you’re hopeless,” one of the quote tweets read.
Another shared a GIF of Taylor holding a statue of a hand with its middle finger up in the air, while somebody else quoted lyrics from her song “Cassandra,” writing: “blood’s thick but nothing like a payroll.”
Somebody else, with a Swiftie X username, wrote: “tweeting about the eagles winning and tagging JASON before congratulating TRAVIS who actually played in the game…..”
Several other users bombarded the now-deleted tweet with similar comments, and others were left horrified when they saw what had gone down.
It didn't take long for them to speculate that the team deleted the tweet because of the backlash from Taylor's fans, with one viral response reading: “So the New Heights podcast made a tweet congratulating the Eagles on winning the Super Bowl but there was so much backlash from Swifties that they deleted the tweet??? that’s sad Jason literally played his whole career here and he also hasn’t said anything about the win either.”
This has been liked and retweeted more than 23,000 times.
And even a Swiftie urged their fellow fans: “Btw if some of y’all don’t knock it the fuck off Jason + New Heights are going to stop interacting with swifties entirely. We’ve cultivated such a fun and silly relationship bringing swifties and sports together. Please don’t ruin it.”
Another asked: “swifties being so insufferable and rude that new heights deleted their post… are you not ashamed?! things like that are the reason this fandom gets a bad name. go outside, touch some grass, and learn how to have some fucking decorum.”
While one popular tweet reads: “wait wdym some swifties bullied @newheightshow out of deleting their tweet congratulating the eagles??? you mean the podcast about football? congratulating the team who won the superbowl? the same team that cohost jason kelce played for 13 years??”
And another adds: “Yes swifties are weird for being mad at the new heights podcast for posting the eagles win but the podcast social media team is even more weird for deleting it. When your cohost spent his whole career (& still is) in philly and you don’t celebrate them winning is weird behavior.”
The New Heights X account has not publicly acknowledged their deleted tweet, but interestingly, their only posts pertaining to the Super Bowl are now centered on Travis’s team, with one shared after the Chiefs’ loss reading: “Played their hearts out. Hell of a year for the @Chiefs.”
The only acknowledgment of the Eagles’ success that remains on the profile is a retweet of one of Jason’s lengthy posts, which begins with: “Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles, my former teammates, and friends on being SB LIX Champions!!”
Meanwhile, Taylor has not publicly acknowledged her fans’ behavior — or the Super Bowl in any capacity — on her own social media pages.
