New Taylor Swift Career Rumor Has Fans Laughing: 'In Your Dreams'
A new career pitch for Taylor Swift has fans of the "You're on Your Own, Kid" songstress rolling with laughter, with one going so far as to suggest that it could only happen in one's dreams.
In a new interview with Variety, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos teased the streamer's desire to secure the superstar for a halftime performance during the NFL's Christmas Day game, calling it "a good challenge" when asked by the publication.
"We did get her in the stadium this year," he added—though it's worth noting that the only reason she was there was to watch her beau, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When Entertainment Tonight posted Sarandos' quote on Instagram, Swifties were quick to shut him down, certain that the only time Swift would take the NFL stage was "in your dreams."
"That would be freaking awesome 🤩," one wrote. "She won’t do it, but it would be amazing!"
"She’s not gonna do that lol maybe in your dreams," another agreed, while a third affirmed there was "No chance."
Some pointed to her presumed disdain for Netflix, as the Reputation Stadium Tour concert film was yanked from the streamer in December 2023. Previously, Swift also called out the entertainment giant for a "deeply sexist" joke at her expense.
With this in mind, one Instagram user commented, "Taylor is done with Netflix…" and another wrote, "Taylor won’t do anything for Netflix button —————————>."
Others pointed to her love of the Christmas season and felt sure she'd put her "Xmas traditions" before work—especially "when she doesn't need to."
"She doesn't take up space she doesn't need," another commenter wrote. "Lol I doubt she will."
"Why would she want to subject herself to a crowd half filled with haters when she can continue to sell out those same stadiums packed exclusively with nothing but people who love her," someone else questioned, pointing to the countless instances where NFL fans have "booed" her simply for being present.
"Can u let her rest a bit," someone else begged, pointing to the recent conclusion of her massive, two-years-long Eras Tour. "She deserves it."
Some, of course, are excited by the prospect, with one simply leaving a series of clapping emojis—"👏👏👏👏👏"—but we wouldn't suggest getting your hopes up!
