Taylor Swift and Katy Perry kiss and make up after years of feuding

After years of exchanging public jabs and nasty song lyrics, it appears Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have kissed and made up.

Katy, 34, shared a photo of a tray of cookies on Wednesday with the words “peace at last” written in red icing with a shakily-drawn peace symbol on either side.

The post looked unimportant enough until you read the caption which said, “feels good @taylorswift”.

The response was explosive, with fans rushing to congratulate the singers.

“TWO QUEENS MAKING PEACE”, one person said, “CANT BREATHE I CNATHAIDUAIXAXLWA”, wrote another, while a third said, “Omg what is happening!!!!!!”

Meanwhile others smelt a music deal and suggested a collaboration could be afoot.

“Ahhhhh! It's the new song title”, someone commented, and “IF ITS A COLLAB”.

They’ve hit hard times

While their respective fan bases are still very much engaged in their music, both Katy and Taylor have struck hard times with their latest releases.

Katy put out her last album, Witness, in 2016 without much success and it was later named among Forbes’ biggest flops for the following year.

Likewise, the single Taylor released in April, titled Me, was widely panned by critics and labelled, “everything wrong with pop”.

So putting their differences aside could be a cunning attempt to drum up more press and attention for their faltering careers.

Back to the beginning

We were first brought into the Katy and Taylor feud back in 2014, when they were both at the height of their fame.

The pair had appeared friendly until Taylor sat down for a now-infamous interview with Rolling Stone magazine, where she explained the origins of her single, Bad Blood.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” she said in reference to a celebrity pal.

“She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’”

Taylor went on to say that the person “did something so horrible, I was like, ‘Oh, we're just straight-up enemies’.”

And Katy was swift in her response, calling the former country star a mean girl with a reference to the iconic, 2004 film.

Two years later, Katy released a song title Swish Swish, which many believe was her response to Bad Blood.

When asked about it, she said, “I think it's a great anthem for people to use whenever somebody's trying to hold you down or bully you”.
