Cult $5 'Scrub Daddy' cleaning buy sells out at Coles

Cleaning enthusiasts are set to clear Coles shelves in record time – yes even in 2020 – with the announcement the supermarket has stocked cult product Scrub Daddy.

The $5 sponge is part of a world-famous range that first cropped up on US TV show Shark Tank from inventor Aaron Krause, and promises to replace dozens of cleaning products with just one, simply, reusable sponge.

The supermarket is stocking both the original Scrub Daddy and the newer Scrub Mommy, which features a double-sided design with the famous Scrub Daddy FlexTexture on one side, and a super absorbent Soft ResoFoam side which promises to build suds with minimal soap.

If it sounds too good to be true, the sponges come recommended by cleaning gurus like Mrs Hinch, and the company has a cult following worldwide, not to mention they are only $5 a pop.

Having just hit shelves in late October, snaps posted to Instagram show the supermarket’s shelves already emptied of the wildly popular product.

It seems demand has never been higher, and it’s not hard to see why.

What’s the big deal about Scrub Daddy?

The sponge is famous for replacing lots of cleaning products and utensils with just one product.

Shaped into a recognisable smiley face, the Spong Daddy’s ‘eyes’ double as an easy grip, and the mouth is recommended for cleaning cutlery, and tricky bits and pieces.

The technology, FlexTexture, allows the sponge to stay firm in cold water for heavy-duty cleaning with the spongey material making it non-scratch on sensitive pots and pans.

In warmer water, the material softens for a deeper sponge.

Cleaning enthusiasts swear by the product which they claim is better than most of their existing products combined, and it’s a fuss-free way to minimise detergent and maximise cleanliness.

The sponges last for around three months, and can simply be popped in the dishwasher or the microwave for a deep clean between uses.
