The Taco Bell Ordering Trick We Wish We’d Known About Sooner

Taco Bell

Just like every other fast food chain in the business, Taco Bell is no stranger to updating its menu both with seasonal offerings and fan-favorite creations. The fast-food giant's most recent accomplishment comes in the form of incredibly tasty Nacho Fries, a fan favorite that has appeared and disappeared on menus on a regular basis since their debut in 2018.

Fans of Taco Bell can all relate when we say that Nacho Fries are perhaps the greatest invention the fast-food establishment has created in recent years. And yes, we're ranking them above the recent Doritos and Cheez-Its collabs. But it’s no secret that when it comes to fast-food menus, we love a good hack. No franchise is safe from the internet's culinary creativity, as we’ve seen on display dozens of times with big names like McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and Panera Bread.

Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries were originally sold as crispy fries dusted with Mexican spices and served with a cup of nacho cheese on the side. As their popularity grew, Taco Bell began experimenting with new sauces, including Avocado Ranch, Spicy Ranch and Creamy Chipotle. And thanks to one resourceful Taco Bell customer, we now have a new sauce hack perfect for fans of Taco Bell's fabled nacho cheese—and it couldn't be easier.

How to Upgrade Taco Bell Nacho Fries

According to Taco Bell patron Urchi Chokshi, the trick to creating an upgraded dipping sauce for Nacho Fries is to squeeze a packet of your favorite Taco Bell hot sauce directly into the cup of nacho cheese.

"I feel like sometimes the Taco Bell cheese is not enough to cover the fries. So in order to kind of make do with what they gave me, I had to add a little bit more substance," Chockshi told Eat This, Not That!

In terms of ingenuity, it doesn’t get any better (or easier) than Chokshi’s saucy upgrade. While Taco Bell now offers a variety of sauces to choose to pair with your Nacho Fries, each one of them can now be “upgraded,” thanks to Chockshi’s creative thinking.

"It's a little bit spicier. It's a little bit more liquidy," Chockshi says, before adding that it does create a "better consistency" overall.

Anything that makes our favorite fast food menu items taste even better is a winner in our book. We’ll be keeping this menu hack in mind on our next Taco Bell run.
