Sweet Bernese Mountain Pup 'Gets in Trouble' and Makes a Beeline Straight for Mom

A sweet Bernese Mountain puppy found himself in some "trouble" and his first instinct was to head straight for mom because she thinks he can do no wrong.

On September 14, 2024, TikTok user Bunsen Berner BMD (@bunsenberner.bmd) shared a really funny video of an adorable Bernese Mountain pup who knew exactly what to do if he ever got in trouble at school. Take a look!

In a short clip shared on social media, we meet Bernoulli, a puppy Bernese Mountain Dog who is currently in a training class.

Bernoulli is standing next to his mom, wearing his training vest, listening to the person behind the camera. "Bernoulli? Did you get in trouble?" the man asked while the pup looked at him. The whole time, the dog just stared at the person holding the camera and answered the question subtly, which eventually became more obvious.

After Bernoulli's dad asked if he got in trouble, the silly pup kept eye contact but slowly started to rub his head on his mom's leg, who had been standing beside him the whole time. Still, without saying anything, the dog lifted his head after rubbing it on his mom's leg and asked for a chin scratch.

In a way, it felt like what a human toddler would do if asked the same question by a parent who knew the answer was "yes" but didn't want to cop to it.

"When you get in trouble and run to your mom," the text on the video reads. And in the caption, there was a little more context on what happened before the video started.

"Bernoulli body checked another puppy into next week and got in trouble by the boss," the caption explained. "He sheepishly retreated to his mommy and was very, very sorry. (For like 20 seconds)"

In the comments, people who watched the video had a lot of fun joking about the whole exchange.

One wrote, "He just doesn’t realize how big he is! Still such a puppy."

Another added, "Poor boy! He didn’t mean to."

Someone else shared, "The smile. 'who me? I would never.'"

Another joked, "But Daaaddd....I was only saying hi!"

One wrote, "He's just making sure everyone is on their A-game."

Someone else joked, "I am Bernoulli’s lawyer & he is innocent. Please refrain from making any defamatory remarks about my client. Thank you."

How Trainable Are Bernese Mountain Dogs?

Bernese Mountain Dogs are gorgeous mid-to-large-size dogs that can grow as tall as 27.5 inches and weigh up to 115 lbs, according to the American Kennel Club.

These dogs are part of the working group, so they can pull their own. Described as being "good-natured, calm, and strong," it's no wonder the parents who adopt them love them very much.

But with any new pup, training can play a big factor in how well the dog integrates into a family and understands work expectations. Thankfully, Bernese Mountain Dogs are pretty easy to train. Knowing what to work on is important, too.

"Their intelligence and gentle temperament make them easy to train," the club shares. "But Berners can be sensitive to harsh correction and don’t do well with being left alone. That’s why it’s important to consider specific training and milestones so you can best cater to their needs."

The club suggests Bernese Mountain Dogs have some obedience training as puppies to work on not jumping, how to walk next to you, and to keep their energy in check so they don't accidentally hurt someone.

They suggest revisiting training around 16 weeks or up to 6 months old. Training them to be cool and chill during grooming is also essential since you'll want to ensure your pup's fabulous coat is well taken care of, which is much easier when they let you.
