Take your most birthday-obsessed friend (the one who does a birthday month instead of just…a day) and multiply their vibes by a thousand. Cool, that is the energy King Charles is bringing to his 1st birthday as monarch, by which I mean he’s throwing himself a massive parade.

To be fair to King“I Hate Leaky Pens” Charles, Trooping the Colour is an annual tradition for Britain’s monarch and involves a bunch of soldiers, horses, and musicians getting together for a giant parade, which is watched by the King and members of the royal family from the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Prince Harry has been invited to every Trooping the Colour parade since he was old enough to attend, but this year, he appears to have been left off the guest list. Last week, royal expert Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “not been invited,” which is “the first time in Harry’s life that he has not been welcome at the monarch’s official birthday celebrations.” A source also told Eden that the decision not to invite the Susssexes seemed to be “a reflection of the state of relations at the moment.”

Things only continued to go south as of this morning when it was confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn't receive an invite to the yearly celebration—an especially huge blow, as it's the first time the event has taken place during the reign of Harry's father. Instead, Harry and Meghan will likely spend the day at their home in Montecito, California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Btw, Harry was recently in the UK for a court hearing but reportedly didn’t see his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William. Tensions between the family members appear to be at an all-time high following the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, earlier this year, and to make matters more complicated, King Charles has evicted the Sussexes from their home in England, Frogmore Cottage. In other words, things are…a mess!
