Survivor Recap: The Final 4 Castaways Are Revealed!
And the winner of Survivor 47 is… going to be revealed next week!
For the first time in the show’s history, the season finale is being split up into two parts, so that big winner announcement will go down Wednesday, Dec. 18 — same time, same place. Is it a bit of a bummer that we have to wait the extra week? Yeah. But the show did produce one hell of a first installment. By the end of Part 1, not one, but two players saw their games extinguished, and both Tribal Councils served up piping hot tension, drama and gameplay. (Maybe an extra week of something we love is a good thing after all?)

At the top of Part 1, the success of Operation: Italy is the talk of the town, and while Sam, Andy and Genevieve are busy celebrating, Teeny’s not too happy with the outcome. But the trio’s next step: Try to recruit Teeny to form a majority. If they do indeed side with them, the biggest target of the game then shifts to Rachel, who’s creeping in a bush behind them and listening to their entire conversation. Teeny spills the beans about Rachel’s Block-a-Vote, but absolutely no one knows about Rachel’s idol… until she tells Sue, that is. But wait! Sue doesn’t tell Rachel about her idol. And Rachel thinks that Genevieve’s “idol” is real! And this sheer madness provides enough kindling to light Tribal afire.
But first, we’ve got an immunity to hand out! After a buoy-based obstacle course in the water and another logo puzzle, Genevieve wins safety and a trip to the Sanctuary. (She opts to bring Sue and Teeny with her.) Rachel tells us that she expects all the votes are going to fall on her, but plans on using her bag o’tricks to save her hide.
Back at camp, Sam and Rachel clear the air about what’s been going on, allowing Rachel a few moments to put on the waterworks and play into the idea that she’s going home. And later, Rachel tries to convince Andy that Sam will wipe the floor with him at Final Tribal. She and Sue also promise Andy a spot in their Final 3 if he’ll vote Sam out. Andy, feeling (too?) good about last week’s operation, considers it, but tells Rachel straight up that it’s best for him to vote her out. And as he’s coming clean, he asks her to keep an open mind about his game, which gets her thinking: Maybe he should be the one to go! Is Rachel finally becoming aware of just how much of a sleeper Andy really is? (And did he just make the most fatal flaw ever?)
THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN | Andy and Genevieve tell Jeff that they told Rachel to her face that they’re writing her name down. In fact, everyone who’s not named Sue did the same. Rachel does a great job playing into the fact that this is her Survivor funeral. As Teeny also notes, Rachel is a pro fire-maker, so why keep her around?
When everyone goes to vote, we see a couple “Rachel” parchments. Sam’s vote gets blocked (by Rachel), but when Jeff calls for advantages, Rachel stands up to play her idol and Sam is shooketh. But he need not worry! Sue and Rachel aim and fire at Andy after all. Guess he did a great job convincing Rachel that he was a gamer to be respected, huh?
The next day, Rachel goes idol-hunting, while Sam goes idol-hunting in Rachel’s bag. Sue’s giddy. She has the red paint idol and nobody knows about it. Genevieve decides to babysit Rachel on her hunt, and the two women agree that they’re the best frenemies they ever could’ve had. It’s refreshing to see two mature women engage in healthy competition, right? On one hand. On the other: Gimme some House of Villains-like brawls! Start name-calling! Throw each other’s belongings in the fire! Throw the rice in the fire! ANYTHING! I guess the OG days of Russell Hantz and Sandra Diaz-Twine-level antics are truly lost and gone forever. Sigh. (I’m a fiend for chaos. What can I say?)
IMMUNITY IS BACK UP FOR GRABS | The showdown continues as Rachel and Genevieve and absolutely no one else competes for the Final 5 necklace. It starts with a sprint in the water and a sand dig, and is followed by stacking balls and stands while balancing on a wobbly platform. Stacks topple left and right, but nothing and no one can stop Rachel, as she wins her third individual immunity and her spot in the Final 4.
With almost everyone believing Genevieve’s idol is fake, Sam feels like he’s in the hot seat. He knows what he has to do. He’s gotta spill the tea about G’s fake idol. He starts with Teeny, who seems to believe him, but when the message is parlayed to Sue and Rachel, they don’t buy it. Teeny goes straight to the source and Genevieve actually confesses! She tells the truth. Rachel’s mind is scrambled. She thinks there might be a double-bluff involved, and who they’re going to vote out is entirely up in the air as they grab their torches and head to Tribal.
A SECOND DATE AT TRIBAL | Sooo, real or fake? Genevieve and Sam are still the only ones who know the truth. Teeny tells Jeff they’re certain they’re uncertain. “So vote for her!” Sam shouts. But as Teeny mentions, Genevieve has spun them around so many times that they don’t know which way is up. Sam follows through with a promise to vote Genevieve, and she returns the favor. But Teeny still can’t make up their mind.
Jeff tallies the votes and asks for advantages: Genevieve admits to her fakery, while Sue plays her idol on herself (since it’s the last Tribal it can be used). The vote quickly turns into a 2-2 tie with Sam, however, Genevieve’s good luck (and excellent game) finally reaches its last stand and she’s officially voted out of the game.
