Things got a little awkward on Sunrise this morning, when a slip of the tongue left host Samantha Armytage and the rest of the cast in a fit of giggles.

The 42-year-old breakfast TV show presenter was introducing a segment featuring roving weather reporter Sam Mac, when she mispronounced his location, Cook Islands, making it sound like a rather x-rated reference.

“Sam Mac, you’ve had a humdinger this morning in the c*ck isla...” she trailed off before realising her mistake and quickly correcting herself, “Cook Islands”.

The bubbly TV star couldn’t hide her embarrassment over the rude error, as she burst into nervous laughter and buried her head in her hands.

Co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch shook his head and tried his best to keep a straight face, while newsreader Natalie Barr and sports reporter Mark Beretta didn’t hide their amusement as they giggled along.

“Cook Islands,” Kochie reiterated to the audience of the correct pronunciation.

Meanwhile Sam Mac was of course still on the other end of the live cross from the overseas location, and had yet to respond.

“I can either pretend that didn’t just happen or I could just enjoy it,” he said.

Samantha was still mortified after her blunder, and admitted her fear the segment would be put under the spotlight on ABC’s Media Watch.

“Oh no, I’m going to end up on Media Watch,” she said while still chuckling, to which Sam Mac responded, “Hey ABC...”

After the Channel Seven show shared the hilarious segment on their official Twitter page, viewers responded with some amusing tweets.

“Someone has a bit of whisky on their cornflakes this morning jokes btw.. it's a hard word to say,” wrote one person.

Others shared some fun GIFS, one featuring a swear jar, and another showing a rooster.
