Sunrise host Samantha Armytage has firmly denied she ‘spat the dummy’ on the set of The Chase.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, the 43-year-old hit back at radio presenter Lawrence Mooney, who claimed Sam was not impressed during a recent filming of The Chase, where she appeared in an episode alongside some Sunrise co-stars.

“What complete rubbish. And how irresponsible & mean to repeat such BS,” Sam wrote on her Twitter account.

“No such thing happened. I got out in the first round (& couldn’t wait to get off the bloody set!) I sat in the green room (eating peanuts) til my colleagues finished, then I went out & rejoined them for the end of the show.

“You’re being salacious & silly & looking for viral hits (which I’ll no doubt unfortunately give you) The show was for charity & @SoldierOnAust was v happy with my performance (& for having a go!) So cease & desist with the BS,” she concluded.

Sam, who appeared on the show last month alongside David ‘Kochie’ Koch, Mark Beretta and Edwina Bartholomew, answered three questions correctly and three incorrectly before she was caught by Issa Schultz.

Comedian Lawrence has claimed she was booted out in the first round and demanded another go and refused to leave the set.

Speaking on his Triple M breakfast show, Moonman in the Morning, Lawrence said: “I heard from people who were in the audience that Sam was being chased and she got caught and she was the first one off... And she cut up rough, she absolutely spat the dummy”.

“She said, ‘I’ve been humiliated, this is embarrassing. I want another go!’” Lawrence continued.

“The producer said, ‘No, you can’t have another go. The questions are randomly generated, sorry’. The story is Sam Armytage refused to leave the floor of The Chase after being caught in the chase.”

In an official comment to Yahoo Lifestyle, a Channel Seven spokesperson said: “The rubbish coming from Lawrence Mooney this morning is a joke gone wrong. However, Sam did eat all the nuts in the green room, as Edwina has confirmed”.

Meanwhile, today’s meant to be a happier occasion for the brekkie host who celebrates turning 43.

This morning her co-hosts wished her well, with Kochie saying, “You are getting younger!”

“Thank you, Kochie, that is the nicest thing you have ever said to me! You're so sweet,” Sam responded.
