Subway’s Footlong Nachos Are Basically a Dorm Room Dream Come True
Subway added a new twist to this bold dish, and it’s anything but your average nacho order.
When’s the last time you enjoyed a batch of cheese-smothered nachos? If you’re ready for some, consider topping them with a couple of scoops of veggies. (Hey, ya gotta get your macros somewhere.)
To help with that, Subway is introducing $5 Doritos Footlong Nachos for a limited time — and that’s not all; they feature a bed of Doritos chips, as revealed today by the Connecticut-based chain. This combination might taste like something you would’ve made in your freshman dorm, but aside from the nostalgia, Subway’s version actually includes a layer of fresh produce.
Now, let’s get into the build:
It all begins with a tray of Nacho Cheese Doritos, topped with shredded and liquid nacho cheese after a quick stint in the oven. When ordering at the counter, your local sandwich artist will chop red onions and tomatoes to incorporate into the mix before adding jalapeños and a drizzle of Baja Chipotle sauce. You can request steak or chicken for no extra charge, but you’ll have to fork over a little extra for a scoop of smashed avocado.
Footlong Nachos launched in January at select locations across the pond and in other international markets. In today’s announcement for U.S. locations, the brand says this partnership reimagines Subway’s staple ingredients in a completely new format.

“Subway’s newest partnership takes everything our fans love about Subway sandwiches — from quality veggies, proteins, and tasty toppings — to the next level with the cheesy flavor and iconic crunch of Doritos,” Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway, said in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “Whether you’re in the mood for a snack, pairing them with your favorite sub or sharing with friends, Subway and Doritos are serving up even more flavor in every satisfying bite.”
If you’re keen on trying the newest dish, you can actually score this side for free next week. And on April 10, Subway will offer rewards members a complimentary tray of nachos with any footlong purchase. The promotion will be available through the Subway app’s MVP Rewards program until the end of the day.
Subway’s tagline is “Eat Fresh,” and the chain has long positioned itself as a healthy option in a sea of fast food drive-thru menus. (Whether that’s actually true is up for debate.) In recent years, it has seemingly taken a new direction with Subway Sidekicks — a line of footlong cookies, Auntie Anne’s pretzels, and sugar-coated churros. Subway’s latest collaboration with the cheesy tortilla chips might just be another thread in that trend.
This promo will only be available for a limited time — so get them while they’re hot.
