Subway Is Coming for Jersey Mike’s With Its 2 New Menu Items
Plus, it's releasing an exclusive, new beverage.

Any fast food fan knows that once a new item arrives at one chain, something similar is bound to hit its competitors’ menus sometime soon. McDonald’s had—and discontinued—Snack Wraps, so chains like Wendy’s, KFC, and Burger King released their own version. Pizza Hut introduced stuffed crust pizza to restaurants, so now Domino’s and Papa Johns sell the cheesy pizza, too.
Lately, we’ve seen one ingredient working its way through the chains: hot honey. However, the beauty of the sweet-and-spicy condiment is that it’s not specific to one type of menu item. Hot honey has begun reaching the masses as part of many menus, including Red Robin’s, KFC’s, Dunkin’s, and Culver’s. Recently, Jersey Mike’s announced a partnership with Mike’s Hot Honey to add the “swicy” sauce to any of its sandwiches for 75 cents.
So, in true chain war form, Subway is now throwing its hat into the hot honey ring.
Subway Releases 2 New Hot Honey Sandwiches
Subway is introducing two all-new sandwiches topped with a housemade hot honey sauce for a limited time. Beginning April 3, you’ll find the Hot Honey Pepperoni and Hot Honey Chicken subs on the chain’s menu.
Subway
The Hot Honey Pepperoni features layers of pepperoni topped with provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and a drizzle of hot honey sauce on toasted artisan Italian bread. And the Hot Honey Chicken starts with rotisserie-style chicken topped with melted Monterey Cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, a combination of hot honey and Creamy Sriracha sauces, and SubKrunch on artisan Italian bread.
Along with the new subs, Subway’s hot honey sauce will be available to add to any of your favorite sandwiches, wraps, or salads—without the 75-cent upcharge, like you’d have to pay at Jersey Mike’s.
You can try Subway’s new Hot Honey Pepperoni sandwich as part of its $6.99 Meal of the Day deal, which includes a six-inch sub, your choice of chips or cookie, and a fountain drink for just $6.99—with the option to upgrade to a foot-long sub for $9.99. The Hot Honey Pepperoni sandwich will be Subway’s Thursday Meal of the Day for a limited time.
In addition to the sweet-and-spicy new sauce, Subway is also offering a new beverage for its customers. In addition to the selection of PepsiCo beverages, Subway will now sell Celsius at its restaurants nationwide. It’s not clear if Subway has entered into a partnership with Celsius that will allow more flavors to be added to the menu, but for now, you’ll find Celsius’ Sparkling Orange energy drink at the chain.
The sub chain wars just got even spicier!
