Morning TV viewers were almost treated to another jacketgate scandal on Tuesday when two presenters on rival networks went on air in the exact same blouse.

ABC sports presenter Catherine Murphy noticed the double-up after she appeared on News Breakfast in a teal coloured blouse and black leather skirt, only to flick over to Channel 10 a couple of hours later to see Sarah Harris in an identical outfit for Studio 10.

Taking to Instagram to chide her fellow presenter, she joked, “It’s not about who wore it best (that’s you Sarah!)…it’s about who wore it FIRST.”

“And I got up at 3am so I DEMAND that this outfit is changed, immediately @whatsarahsnapped.”

Adding a few laughing face emojis, she also appealed to Sarah’s co-host Tristan MacManus, saying, “Sort it out @tristanmacmanus”.

Promptly replying with her own Instagram post, Sarah laughed, “I see (and obviously copied) your blouse and skirt combo @catherinemurphysport! And in a nod to your homeland I'll raise you an Irish accessory.”

The accessory she is referring to is Tristan, who is Irish-born like Catherine, and is sitting next to Sarah in the accompanying photo with his shirt unbuttoned down to his navel.

Naturally, references to 2017’s infamous "jacketgate" - where leaked footage showed Nine journalist Amber Sherlock chastising colleague Julie Snook for not putting on a jacket when both were dressed in white tops - abounded, with followers getting a kick out of the good humoured exchange.

“Hahahha @catherinemurphysport I’ve already had to change out of mine,” Tristan quipped on Instagram, while another follower simply commented, “Put a jacket on, Julie!”

The wardrobe departments over at the ABC and Channel 10 were likely influenced by the recent sweeping wins of the so-called "teal" independents at the recent election when they chose to style their talent this morning.

Both journalists were dressed in a teal-coloured satin blouse with a wide, V-neck collar. For a similar look, ASOS has this button down blouse with cuffed sleeves and a pocket detail for $50.

There’s also this teal satin shirt from Pretty Little Thing which has recently been reduced to just $35.

For both presenters, the shirts were paired with a high-waisted leather pencil skirt for a professional but edgy look.

To recreate the style, you could try this vegan leather skirt from Forever New which has a side split and retails for $80, or this sleek design by Manning Cartell that finishes below the knee and has panel detailing down the front.
