This Starbucks Drink Looks Like a Work of Art — and You Can Only Get It at These Locations

You don’t truly know the full Starbucks experience until you’ve visited a Starbucks Reserve, one of the company’s highly experiential specialty cafés. And this week, the brand is launching a lineup of new, exciting items to sweeten the experience even more.
Starbucks is launching a brand-new spring menu in select Reserve locations, a representative tells Food & Wine. This seasonal lineup, featuring springtime flavors and pastel shades, will be available exclusively at Reserve locations in Seattle, Chicago, and New York starting tomorrow. It coincides with the overall chain’s spring menu, which is also set to drop.

Try the Sakura Float, featuring cherry blossom-inspired Sakura Allure tea topped with a scoop of vanilla gelato. You can also enjoy the pillowy Iced Ube Coconut Latte, which boasts a thick layer of vibrant purple cold foam and a sprinkle of coconut. For those who prefer sweeter options, the Lavender Matcha Malt — reminiscent of a milkshake — combines green tea, vanilla gelato, and bitters.
Beyond that, those looking to imbibe will be delighted: Starbucks Reserve, which has always served cocktails, is bringing in more spring flavors with its Lavender Matcha Margarita, Butterfly Tea Spritz, and Sakura Blossom Negroni.
As for food pairings, expect a host of delightful treats: The Twice-Baked Pistachio Rose Cornetto, Blueberry Lavender Doughnut, and Butterfly Pea Swirl Cake are all available at Reserve locations in the United States. (Of course, that doesn’t include a tempting lineup of sandwiches, pastries, snacks, and other bites on the year-round menu)

What is Starbucks Reserve?
Reserve outposts, which landed on the coffee scene in the 2010s, offer a unique behind-the-scenes extension of the Starbucks brand. Here, new takes on old coffee classics abound.
Formally, Starbucks regards Reserve as the epitome of “craft, theater and innovation of coffee.” (Think highly inventive drinks, decadent layered pastries, and an ultimately finer experience than your corner Starbucks.) Expect to pay a little extra for these drinks, but you’ll also receive a more crafted, upscale experience.
Another thing you’ll notice: Coffee- and tea-based cocktails are available at select Reserve locations, blending the company’s coffee expertise with a bit of mixology. At some locations, you can even learn to shake up your own espresso martini (for a cool $95 per person).
Where can you find Starbucks Reserve locations?
There are nine Starbucks Reserve roasteries and stores in six cities across the globe: Seattle, Chicago, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Milan. The Seattle roastery, opened in 2014 just down the street from the chain’s first-ever Pike Place location, is among the most impressive. Visitors can expect a full tour of the roasting process, a historical overview of the chain, and all the coffee expertise the company has to offer. Another Seattle location, Sodo, stands as the company’s HQ.
Otherwise, you can visit three locations in New York City, including one at the base of the Empire State Building and another on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
How is Starbucks Reserve different from a regular Starbucks?
Starbucks Reserve differs in both dining room presentation and menu offerings: It boasts dark and elegantly moody interiors, reminiscent of a bar that looks quite unlike your neighborhood Starbucks. And while you can still order the classics, Reserve locations offer a signature menu of innovative, specialty-crafted drinks — including the Caramel Mocha Drizzle Affogato and Hot Honey Dirty Chai. Select locations, such as the Seattle building, also offer tours of the on-site roastery. Visitors can also book a coffee tasting, which covers the basics of the brand’s most popular roasts, or a mixology class.
