‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Gets Paramount+ Streaming Release Date
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” the third iteration in the film franchise based on Sega’s enduring speedster, will be available to stream on Paramount+ on Feb. 18.
The third “Sonic” feature picks up with the blue blur, along with Tails the Fox and Knuckles the Echidna, having to team up with their nemesis Dr. Robotnik to take on the superlatively edgy threat of Shadow the Hedgehog.

The film opened on top of the North American box office back in December, earning $60 million in its first outing and continuing to score as a high earner through the holiday season. A fourth film is already in the works for Paramount, set to be released in 2027.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3″ is directed by Jeff Fowler, who also helmed the prior Sonic films. The film’s deep bench of cast members includes Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Lee Majdoub, Krysten Ritter, Adam Pally, Natasha Rothwell and Shemar Moore.
Variety‘s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman described the film as a “parody of the grandiosity of what superhero movies have become. It’s like a late Marvel extravaganza that never loses sight of the fact that it’s preposterous,” he wrote in his review. Gleiberman also credited Fowler as the “real star” of the movie, praising his “shape-shifting filmmaking, which is deft enough to revel in blockbuster overkill and skewer it at the same time” and detailed how Carrey “gets to give an epic performance, topping everything he’s done in these movies.”
