Soft, squishy leather bags are everywhere at the moment, and Celine is more than delivering when it comes to this trend with the house's latest accessory, the Camille 16 Soft. The style – which launched this month – is defined by its slouchy trapeze shape, short handle and gold hardware, and looks set to be one of the house's biggest accessory hits, already counting itself as an A-list favourite.
Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, Sydney Sweeney and Phoebe Dynevor are among the names to have been spotted toting around the Camille over the past few weeks.
Watts has the style in black, which she teamed with a monochromatic tailored look while out and about in New York, as does Dynevor who found the Camille to be the perfect accompaniment to her suede skirt suit. Meanwhile, Sweeney paired the black design with her leather look for an outing to the basketball and Witherspoon accessorised her baby blue trouser suit with a tan leather version of the Camille.
Although A-listers don't tend to need to invest in large totes to carry their belongings around (unlike us, they are not trekking from the gym to the office), the Camille is in fact a much more practical size than many celebrity-loved 'It' bags. The medium size is big enough to fit a laptop, while both the medium and the small can be altered to be shoulder or crossbody bags, meaning you can make it work for any occasion. The removable straps can also be worn fixed as one or separately.
The bag is the latest in Celine's Le 16 bag line, launched by Hedi Slimane and named after Celine's headquarters in Paris, 16 Rue Vivienne. All the bags in the collection draw their inspiration from the trapeze lines and short flaps of the 1960s Celine bag silhouettes.
