Snoop Dogg Thanks 'Nephews' Drake and Kendrick Lamar for 'Raising the Bar' with Their Rap Beef
The rap veteran says "the writing has been upped since the confrontation" between the stars began
The latest star weighing in on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s headline-making feud is none other than Snoop Dogg, and — spoiler alert — his advice was not to drop it like it’s hot.
The rap stars’ months-long back-and-forth has captured the attention of everyone from Tom Hanks to Uma Thurman, who offered Drake her Kill Bill costume. Now, the rap veteran, 52, is offering his two cents.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight about the months-long rap beef (which has also included artists like J. Cole, Future, Metro Boomin and Rick Ross) Snoop shouted out, not criticized, the rappers — and called them his “nephews.”

"Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing,” the rapper told the outlet, “because the writing has been upped since the confrontation or whatever you call it, whatever they went through.”
“Those are my nephews,” he added. “I'm not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that's personal business, not my business."
No stranger to rap beef, the “Gin and Juice” artist also said that the pair’s public feud — which has included everything from lyrical disses to Instagram call-outs — has upped the rap game as a whole.
"As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again," he told ET. “You can't mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy.”
“So, thank y’all,” he added.

Contrary to his new comments, Snoop was already "in the middle of" Drake and Lamar’s beef before his ET interview — although it wasn’t necessarily by choice.
As Drake, 37, waited for Lamar, 36, to respond to his leaked "Push Ups" diss track in April, he released another song, "Taylor Made Freestyle,” aimed at the "Be Alright" rapper, and it controversially featured AI verses from Snoop, as well as the late Tupac Shakur. (It also featured a Taylor Swift name-drop.)
In his AI verse, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper disses Lamar before Drake comes back in with: “Yeah, unc', that's the truth.”
Sharing a confused reaction to the unexpected feature back in April, Snoop posted a video on Instagram. In the clip, which he captioned, “🤷🏾♂️🎤👀🤣⏰ 🤖," the rapper slowly creeped into frame and said, “They did what? When? How? Are you sure?”
After a loud sigh, Snoop continued: “Y’all have a good night and to all … Why everybody calling my phone, blowing me up? What the f---? What happened? What’s going on?”
"I’m going back to bed," he finished. "Good night."
