Simone Ashley Predicts Luke Thompson Will Be 'Romantic, Gorgeous and Brilliant' as “Bridgerton” Season 4 Lead (Exclusive)

Ashley also told PEOPLE that fans can "totally" expect to see more of her character Kate's playful dynamic with her onscreen husband, Jonathan Bailey's Anthony

Simone Ashley knows her Bridgerton costar Luke Thompson is going to be a great lead.

In her latest interview with PEOPLE in 10, the actress, 29, shared three words that she thought would describe Thompson's performance in the highly anticipated fourth season of the regency drama.

"Romantic, gorgeous and brilliant," Ashley, who is starring in the new Hulu holiday flick The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland, said. "He's just amazing. I love Luke, he's just the kindest guy. He's always been so welcoming when I was new on the show and just so sweet to me, just a really wonderful person."

When asked if fans will see more of Ashley and her onscreen husband Jonathan Bailey's characters Kate and Anthony's playful dynamic in season 4, she replied, "Totally, always!"

"I think so," she continued. "Kate and Anthony are really special characters and I think what drew me and Jonathan to their relationship is how complex it is and how beautiful it is. I think there's always going to be something to love."

According to Netflix's Tudum, season 4 of Bridgerton will center around Benedict Bridgerton and his romance with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).

"As a victim of tragic events, Sophie has been forced to spend much of her life working for the most demanding employer in the ton. But the resourceful Sophie always finds a way to persevere through her circumstances," Tudum shared.

In September, Thompson, 36, also told the streamer's companion site that the new season will explore "the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world."

“I get really excited by how many unexpected twists you’ll get in Season 4," he added, teasing, that a "big" twist he "can mention is this one masquerade ball..."

In addition to Thompson and Ha, Nicola Coughlan, who stars as Penelope and Luke Newton, who plays love interest Colin Bridgerton, are also set to return, along with Bailey.
