Shawn Mendes has seemingly addressed his rumored love triangle with Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter.
If you’re out of the loop, allow me to get you up to speed: Shawn and Camila famously began dating in 2019 after years of friendship, though parted ways in 2021. They rekindled things for a brief moment in 2023, though ended up splitting again in June that year.
However, shortly before he and Camila rekindled things in 2023, Shawn was linked to Sabrina, with a source telling Entertainment Tonight the pair were “trying to keep things low-key.”

While Shawn denied that he and Sabrina were dating, her August 2024 album Short n’ Sweet appeared to suggest otherwise.
Sabrina seemingly referenced both Shawn and Camila throughout the hit album, with fans speculating that the most obvious jab was her single “Taste.” She sang, “I heard you’re back together, and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”
And similarly, on Camila’s June 2024 album C, XOXO, there seem to be a couple of mentions of Sabrina — most notably in her song “June Gloom,” which is allegedly about Camila’s ex moving on while still having feelings for her.
Now, in an upcoming episode of John Mayer’s SiriusXM show Life with John Mayer, it looks like Shawn may have addressed the alleged overlap between his two romances.
In a teaser released on Wednesday, Shawn can be seen looking back on a past relationship and recalling once telling an unnamed partner that he had “unresolved feelings” for an ex.
“I’m with someone. Two days before going to hang with my ex, [I] express I’m going to hang with my ex because I have unresolved feelings,” said Shawn.
Unresolved feelings? Quick, everyone act surprised!
He continues with an awkward smile, “Maybe instead of two days it could have been two weeks.”
John lightly pressed Shawn about his handling of the situation, asking, “Is there something in all of this that you could say, ‘Yeah, I played that wrong?’”
“None of those therapists know what it’s like to be a famous musician,” Shawn replied.
“The biggest lesson I’ve heard is no one gets out of this life without getting hurt, and no one gets out of this life without hurting someone,” Shawn concluded, to which John enthusiastically agreed.
