Several Insiders Invested In Reservoir Media Flagging Positive News \

Usually, when one insider buys stock, it might not be a monumental event. But when multiple insiders are buying like they did in the case of Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ:RSVR), that sends out a positive message to the company's shareholders.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Reservoir Media

The Independent Director Stephen Cook made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$163k worth of shares at a price of US$6.47 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$6.34). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 2.7% of Reservoir Media shares, worth about US$12m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
