Jon Stewart with a cut hand on 'The Daily Show'Jon Stewart is giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the aftermath of his recent on-air hand-splitting antics — but it's all in bloody good fun.
On Tuesday — less than 24 hours after the late-night star cut his hand by smashing a coffee mug during a rant on Monday's episode of The Daily Show — the series shared a video aptly titled "Jon Stewart Will Do Anything For The Bit - After The Cut," which proves exactly that.
In it, yesterday's accident is first replayed for viewers before cutting to what happened when the cameras stopped rolling. Crew members can be seen quickly cleaning up around Stewart, who is shown with a heavily bandaged finger and holding some sort of cloth or gauze in his hand as he deadpans to the audience, "You know, it's important to remember who the real heroes are."
As the crew keeps tidying behind him, he tells the cheering audience, "My favorite thing out of all that 'Indy 500 pit stop, trying to keep the car on the road' [thing] was, and I'm not even sure who said it, but they just go, 'You want some duct tape on that, old electrician's trick?' I'm like, 'Sure.'"

Stewart then goes on to explain what longtime viewers of the Comedy Central late-night staple likely already know: This isn't the first time Stewart has cut himself to the point of needing stitches in the name of physical comedy on the show.

"It was a margarita blender with me and [John] Oliver, and I hit it down and just drew blood, and Oliver couldn't have been happier," Stewart explains of the prior time he injured himself on air. "I'd never seen anything like it. He sat there gleefully watching, and that was more of an artery, that was just spurting everywhere, and at one point he yells at me, 'It's just a flesh wound, stop making such a big deal of it!'"

For those who missed it (or those who want a reminder), an old clip of that accident then plays, showing Stewart indeed cutting himself after using a margarita blender. "That's not good," he says, barely able to contain a laugh. In a bit of déjà vu, he then echoes what he told viewers in Monday night's episode, telling the audience, "I'm probably going to need to go to the hospital."
