Scott Wolf Says He's On Board for a 'Party of Five' Reunion (Exclusive)
Scott Wolf’s career began before Party of Five, but that’s the show that kicked it into high gear. He’s since starred in several more series, including Everwood, V, The Nine, Perception, The Night Shift, Nancy Drew and he’s currently starring in FOX’s new medical drama Doc.
Despite the long list of credits, when Wolf is out and about, Party of Five, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in September 2024, is the one that fans want to talk about, and the one they would like to see rebooted. One problem with that is the casting–which includes Wolf, Matthew Fox, Paula Devicq, Lacey Chabert, and Neve Campbell–was so good that most of the actors are working, which makes them unavailable.
“I almost think it would bode better for the reboot if we were all out of work,” Wolf joked with Parade when asked about the status of a reunion show of some sort. “But everybody’s beautifully, wonderfully busy doing really incredible work all these years later. It’s a testament to how hard-working and passionate and well-cast we were."
As busy as they are, though, the former castmates do manage to stay in touch. And Chabert and Wolf have even worked together again since, starring in 2023’s A Scottish Merry Christmas for Hallmark.

“Recently, Neve and Lacey and I sent messages just checking in on how’s everybody doing,” Wolf says. “It had been a minute since everyone had shared pictures of our kids. And so everybody sent pictures of kids. My kids could be their kids; their kids could be my kids. We really were cast as a family in a way that meant incredible things on and off camera. All these years later we’re still in touch with each other, still love each other, are still second family. And that doesn’t happen every time out.”
Party of Five, which ran for six seasons from 1994 to 2000, was the story of the five orphans of the Salinger family who banded together following the death of their parents. It quickly developed a cult following that left an imprint on the culture. That said, there are no active rumors of its return. Freeform attempted a reboot back in 2020 with an entirely different cast comprising the Acosta family, but it was one and done.
“A couple of years ago, I started kind of gathering pieces and talking to everybody and everyone was interested,” Wolf continues. “I get asked all the time: 'What do you think the Salingers are up to?' Every single time, I’m moved by it and I’m curious about it. I think with everything that’s changed in our society, it would be fascinating to grab a family that we knew 30 years ago and see where everyone is now, see who’s in each other’s lives and who isn’t. Yeah, I’m on board. I’m on board. But, thankfully everybody’s got a lot going on. Never say never.”
Doc airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
