Savannah Chrisley Says Boyfriend Robert Shiver Introduced Her to His Kids as a 'Friend' Before Things Progressed

When Savannah Chrisley first met her boyfriend Robert Shiver's kids, she wasn't introduced as his girlfriend, but rather as a friend.

On this week's episode of her podcast Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, the reality TV star, 27, had on her boyfriend Shiver, 40, and they discussed details about their relationship, including when she met his three sons, who he shares with his ex-wife, for the first time.

“That’s one thing you and I have made no bones about from the very beginning is that yes, I enjoyed spending time with you, and I want to spend more time with you. But our kids come first,” Chrisley says, referring to her siblings Grayson and Chloe, whom she is the legal guardian of while her parents serve time in prison.

“Yeah, we made that clear, I think from the beginning,” Shiver agrees.

“That was clear from the very beginning that it’s about their emotional well-being, what they need, how we can show up for them. And because we did that there wasn’t this, ‘Oh, let’s go here a weekend, there a weekend,' " Chrisley continues.

"We’re parenting 24/7 so that’s why I’ve seen some stuff out there of, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t introduce them to your kids so quickly.’ And people don’t take into consideration it’s easy to date when you have a normal divorce and the kids are split 50/50. Because if that would’ve been the case, I wouldn’t have met the boys for probably a year.”

For both Chrisley and Shiver, it was important that their kids liked their partners since they are both single parents and spend most of their time with their families.

“Yeah, I think that’s a big step in any relationship is bringing somebody new in front of the people that you’re 100% dependent on you and that you love more than anything in the world," Shiver says. "And you know I think you just have to make a judgment call. If you see a future with someone, then it makes sense to introduce them because it’s important to me that your kids…”

“They have to love the person you’re with,” Chrisley says.

When it came time for Chrisley to meet Shiver's kids, the two say that they took it slowly.

“How did…cause some of the questions were how did you introduce the boys to me?” Chrisley asks. “And the way I speak more about his and the introduction is because mine are totally different. Mine are siblings. That’s the thing."

"We have a weird…I have to parent them to make sure they turn out to be decent, kind human beings and that know structure but at the same time, we’re still siblings," she says. "So it’s not like, ‘Hey, you’re going to meet so and so. It’s a totally different dynamic. So how did you introduce the boys to me?”

“Well the first thing is that my kids are my whole world and so if it would’ve been a giant red flag that would’ve probably been it whenever we met," Shiver says. "Or whenever you met them. But it wasn’t. And initially I introduced you as, ‘This is just a friend,’ and I think you had Grayson and Chloe with you.”

Chrisley cuts him off to say that they actually introduced her siblings as one of his friends' friends.

“Oh yeah, that’s right. That’s right. So then things just kind of progressed and naturally it kind of led to telling them more information,” Shiver says.

“And too, they’re very very smart. Especially the oldest two pay attention to a lot," Chrisley adds.

News of Chrisley's relationship with Shiver, who had been married to now-ex Lindsay Shiver since 2007, broke in September 2023. Shiver previously made headlines in July 2023 after he survived an alleged murder plot orchestrated by Lindsay, who is the mother of his three children, and her alleged boyfriend, Terrence Bethel.
