Everyone dreads a wardrobe malfunction but if it has to happen, it’s far better to have one while you’re trying on the outfit in the comfort of your own home or a change room before the big event.

Nevertheless, it’s still a gut-wrenching moment when you realise that, for example, the dress’s fabric is far too sheer to keep things PG-rated at your cousin’s wedding.

Or, in SAS Australia star Ali Oetjen’s case, the neckline is so plunging that there’s a high chance of a nip-slip at the slightest breeze.

The former Bachelorette star made the awkward discovery while searching for an outfit for Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup at a Myer store in Brisbane on Friday.

Ali shared snaps of several stunning options with her fans on her Instagram Stories, including a coral coloured mini dress that left her chest a little too exposed.

So much so that the wellness coach was forced to censor her assets with the word ‘NOPE’ to protect her modesty.

After testing out a few other frocks including a slinky black midi and a hot pink one-shoulder number Ali managed to find her dream look which she’s keeping under wraps until the big race next week.

Just days earlier, a bevvy of beautiful celebs including Delta Goodrem, Jasmine Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson stepped out for the 2020 Melbourne Cup Carnival launch in Sydney.

The race that stops the nation will be a little different this year due to COVID-19, with Flemington racecourse only permitting jockeys, trainers and owners on the day. That won’t stop the fashions off the field, with all the usual famous faces expected to glam up for various smaller, socially-distanced events across the country.
