Sarah Michelle Gellar Fans Rush to Defend Actress After 'Concerning' New Photo Arises
Sarah Michelle Gellar is back in the spotlight with her role in the highly anticipated Dexter prequel series. And while fans couldn't be happier to see her back in action, some are expressing concern over her appearance.
The 47-year-old Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum took to Instagram on Friday, Dec. 13, to share a carousel of backstage pics from her appearance this week on Late Night With Seth Meyers, modeling a mauve satin corset with black lace trim. In the last pic of the series, she posed with SNL stars Chloe Fineman and Marcello Hernández.

Although many of Gellar's followers raved about the pics, calling her "stunning," some took issue with her appearance.
"Idk why this skinny has to be beautiful. It’s concerning," wrote one person.
"Do you eat, at all?" someone else wanted to know.
"She does look unhealthy. She might not realize she was a too skinny. Her bmi is definitely under what it should be. Not body shaming, just worried about her nutrition. Talking about being healthy is not rude. Ps- I’m overweight so 🤷🏻♀️," shared another fan.
However, many others defended Gellar, pointing out that body-shaming is never acceptable.
"Sometimes people have been this size their whole life and this is healthy for their body type…But Never is it ever cute for women to bring down other women, your own insecurities about yourself begin to show," declared one commenter.
"I have a very dear friend with an eating disorder, you would never know it by looking at her but you know what I learned from her therapist? You NEVER comment on people’s bodies, positive or negative because you don’t know what they could be dealing with our what you could be triggering in them! Keep your damn thoughts on yourself, your words can do more damage than you could ever know," another person argued.
Parade has reached out to Gellar's rep for comment.
