Sam Heughan Marks 'Outlander' Last in Sentimental Video Message
While filming has already wrapped on the eighth and final season of Outlander, the actors are still putting their finishing touches on the final installment of the series.
Sam Heughan—otherwise known as Jamie Fraser—took to Instagram on Tuesday, March 4, to share a video of himself leaving the studio after recording some dialogue for the series finale, and as the star warned his fans, the episode is guaranteed to be a highly emotional experience.
"Well that's it, the last ADR on Outlander completed on Universal lot," Heughan said as he walked, wearing a denim jacket and a red baseball cap.
"The studio's behind me but, yeah, very emotional," he continued. "I'm very excited for the fans to see the final episode. It's going to be quite, quite an emotional one, but I know you're gonna love it. Thank you Jamie."
Heughan's fans definitely had plenty of feelings to share about their favorite show ending.
"So sorry it's an end to an epic story!! Much love and abundance for your future Sam❤️❤️," gushed one person.
"Thank you!!!! You're simply the best! 👏🙌 Caitriona and you have touched so many lives.❤️ So bittersweet! Can't wait! ❤️" added a second commenter.
"O my gosh. If it’s emotional for you, in the know, we all will be a total mess. 🥺" another Instagram user declared.
One thing's for sure: Heughan will miss Outlander just as much as the show's loyal viewers. He opened up about working on the fantasy series for 11 years during a heartfelt conversation with Jimmy Fallon in January.
"It's been a real rollercoaster and there's a huge gap I think in my life from that show, but it's been incredible," he said. "The friends I've made, the cast, the crew. it's like family."
"How do you end something like that?" he added.
The series is set to end with season 8, which has already wrapped filming.
