Sam comes clean to Genevieve in “Survivor 47” exclusive deleted scene
Which ends with the two players telling each other they suck.
There was a pivotal moment on this week's penultimate episode of Survivor 47 where Sam Phalen, whose one-way ticket to the jury appeared to be all but punched, had only one option to keep his game alive. But it would be completely betraying his ally Genevieve Mushaluk and informing the rest of the tribe that her alleged immunity idol — one that he had helped build — was actually fake. That meant Genevieve — seen as the biggest threat in the game at that point — was actually vulnerable and could be voted out of the game. And that is exactly what the others did once they heard the news.
But there is one thing we did not see on the episode, and that was the aftermath between Sam and Genevieve when the latter was informed by Teeny Chirichillo that the former had spilled the beans on her phony-baloney idol. However… all that was unseen shall now be seen! That's because we have an exclusive deleted scene between the two that shows Sam coming clean to Genevieve about his move.

The day 24 scene, which can be watched at the top of the article, shows Sam asking Genevieve to have a chat. "As close as I am with Genevieve, as good of a friend as she has been to me out here, and as much as I really do want to play the game with her, I feel like I have no other option," Sam explains in a confessional interview. "I've got to get Genevieve out tonight, and I feel a little bit of guilt and shame from telling Teeny about Genevieve and her fake idol."
"So you heard?" Sam begins the conversation, to which Genevieve replies, "I did hear. I did hear. I was surprised to hear, but I did hear."
Sam continues: "I just don't want to… I don't know… I feel really bad. I've got to try to win the game."
"Totally, totally," Genevieve responds, gently letting him off the hook. "I wish there was a way for both of us to be here tomorrow, but I understand your position because if they think it's real, they'll put votes on you. You do not have to worry. If that is the best move for you, and if there wasn't a reasonable chance of us both getting there, you have to do what is right for you."

Of course, Genevieve's grace only makes Sam feel worse about ratting her out. "I genuinely feel bad," Sam says in an interview, making it clear this is not just a typical Survivor acting job. "I feel worse about turning on Genevieve than anything else I've done in this game. This one hurts my heart."
While Sam will clearly do whatever it takes to get further in the game — which we saw when he promised Rachel LaMont he would not tell Sol Yi he was the target and then immediately did exactly that — it doesn't mean he always enjoys it. "When somebody bonds with you in this game and becomes a friend to you in this game, you don't want to burn them," he says. "And it's mainly because I know Genevieve's story out here. I know the sort of emotional roller coaster that she has been on, and I think I'm the first person that she has genuinely trusted in this game since the beginning."
And then he went and broke that trust. "I just want her to know that I did want to play with her," he adds. "I didn't want her to go tonight. I did want to go to four. I would've loved to make fire against one another, but I can't have my friendship with Genevieve getting in the way of me having a legitimate chance to win the game."

But to have a chance to win the game, you have to stay in the game, although Sam tells Genevieve that he wishes it was with her by his side. "I wanted to go to four and then make fire against you," he tells her down at the beach, "and then be able to say, 'Winner wins the million bucks, and I'm happy either way' — but Rachel won't lose!"
The conversation ends with Sam and Genevieve telling teach other they suck… but, like, in a nice way. To watch the entire exclusive deleted scene unfold for yourself, check it out at the top of the article.
