After Taylor Swift let news of her godmother status slip this past summer while cheering on the cast of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds finally confirmed the news: Swift is, in fact, the godparent to his daughters.

The actor said as much during an interview with Deadline, where he was asked about a headline that referenced Swift's Instagram post from July. Her rather cheeky shoutout to Wade Wilson (a.k.a. Reynolds's character in Deadpool) as "my godkids' sperm donor" marked the first time either party had revealed her special role in the family.

"Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on the planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film," Swift continued, writing her caption alongside a photo of her with Reynolds, Lively, and Hugh Jackman. "He's created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich. I don't know how he did it."

Swift channeled Reynolds's penchant for jokes, by delivering her punch line in the final sentence: "But that's just Hugh for you."

Reynolds has four children with Blake Lively: daughters James, Inez, and Betty, and a son named Olin. Swift is also the godmother to another child named Leo James, who is the son of actress Jaime King. When asked why she choose the most famous woman in the world to be a parent figure to her son, King described the singer as a role model.

“It wasn’t because it was this person and the name," she explained in an interview with People. "It was really because of her morals and her values, the way that she treats people, and how hard-working she is…That’s the kind of person I want to be the guide and the spiritual protector of my child."
