Princess Anne is in mourning following the death of her mother-in-law Barbara Laurence.

The 90-year-old, who is the mother of the princess’ second husband Sir Timothy Laurence, passed away on July 2 at an assisted-living facility in England.

In an obituary released by the UK’s Telegraph, Mrs Laurence is credited as the ‘much beloved widow’ of her late husband Guy as well as mother Tim and his brother Jonathan.

The Princess Royal, the Queen’s only daughter, married for the second time in 1992, three years after she divorced Mark Phillips - Zara and Peter Phillips’ father.

Despite her place among the royal family’s senior figures, Anne has remained famous for her down to earth and no-nonsense approach to her role.

Following her father Prince Philip’s infamous car accident earlier this year, Anne’s sole response to the situation was - unsurprisingly - very in line with her public persona.

The 68-year-old was seen arriving at a royal engagement in the day afterwards when reporters asked her about her father’s condition.

“I’ve no idea. You know where I am? Same place as you,” she told reporters with a brief laugh, before making her way inside.
